Sertoma Club project beautifies Center Grove

The Sertoma Club of Greenwood service project will be Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. to beautify Honey Creek along Stones Crossing Road where a new pedestrian bridge will be placed next year. In case of rain, the date will be Nov. 2 at 9 a.m.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our club to continue to give back to our community. We know this will improve the appearance of this highly traveled area and we think this is a project our community will appreciate our efforts once the work is completed” says Jeff Goben, Sertoma Club of Greenwood member.

The Sertoma Club of Greenwood, Center Grove Community School Corporation, and Center Grove Trails, Inc. will partner the event to clear out underbrush improving the area where walkers/joggers can enjoy a safe route connecting two neighborhoods to the school campus. “We would like to welcome anyone that wants to volunteer to help with this project on October 26 to bring along appropriate attire: boots, work gloves, and rakes. Anyone interested in
volunteering can call Jeff Goben at 317-403-9141 for questions.

Currently walkers/joggers use a narrow, old bridge that is shared by daily traffic that leads to three schools: Center Grove Middle School Central, Center Grove Elementary School, and Center Grove High School. Having a pedestrian bridge along the Stones Crossing Road will improve their safety and enjoyment. The neighborhoods of Forest Hills and Brentridge Estates are connected with Forest Hills located off of Stones Crossing Road. A homeowner in Forest Hills has donated the use of her property to place this bridge and sees the value of having a safe route to the school campus and the school administration building. Volunteers are asked to park in the Center Grove Administration Building parking lot located on Stones Crossing Road. Contact Jeff Goben at 317-403-9141 for more information.
