What do you consider your greatest virtue?
I have compassion for life, all life and living beings, and an intense desire to do no harm and reduce the amount of suffering in the world.
What do you most deplore in others?
I feel frustrated when I observe the inability or refusal of a paradigm shift. We get so focused on what we were taught and believe to be true as a species, we tend to ignore anything else, cognitive dissonance.
What do you like most about living in Johnson County?
I enjoy the proximity to the bulk of the major highways, Indianapolis, the airport, and the people. I have high hopes that Johnson County continues to grow and diversify.
If you had to live elsewhere than in Johnson County, where would it be?
Nearly anywhere out west! Utah or Arizona likely! If it had to be Indiana, Marion County so I can be closer to my mom.
If you could begin life over, what would you change?
Nothing. Of course, there are situations I wish I could have created a different outcome but we don’t learn or grow from those. I am who I am and where I am because of my decisions and life and I would never risk changing that.
If money were no issue, how would you spend it?
Many ways! I am very passionate about environmental advocacy so I would likely start there and any number of animal rescues. Humans do so many things that negatively affect our planet and the other creatures that we live with.
What makes you happiest?
My lazy days at home with my husband and our baby, Violet. Having her is the coolest thing I have ever done!
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Probably Sedona or Hawaii but picking just one place or one favorite anything never feels right. All things and places have the ability to transform our lives at different times so I think, right now, I would accept any safe-to-travel-to vacation spot!
What do you do with idle time?
I love to read and meditate. I don’t do idle well but I am working on that!
What is it that makes you angry?
Mean people. There is far too much garbage in the world, there is no room left for anything but kindness.
What do you do to escape from reality?
Reading is one of my favorite escapes, but I am no stranger to Netflix and binge watching shows!
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Picking one, again, feels wrong. I love so many people and beings for so many reasons. I love my daughter more than anything, but I wouldn’t have her without my husband so, I guess the greatest love of my life is our family (including two and four legged members)!
Which living person in Johnson County do you most admire?
Professionally, Pam Ridge. She is an amazing businesswoman, and she supports growth and change and us. She has made a significant impact on our business and our lives. Personally, my husband. He is so kind and a genuinely good human. I am a better human because of them.
What is your greatest extravagance?
When we travel, we love to eat and experience the city we are in, so probably, especially in non-COVID times, finding really great vegan food at restaurants.
What are your fears, phobias?
Losing my baby is my biggest fear.
What has been the happiest time of your life?
Right now. I have had so many happy times but each day I am alive is a new reason to be happy.
Which talent would you most like to possess?
I would really love to be able to sing well. I still sing, but it certainly is not something anyone would pay to hear!
What do you most value in your friends?
Honesty and the ability to communicate. Who are we if we cannot communicate well?
Which historical figure do you most identify with?
Jane Goodall! Not because talking to my husband is like talking to a monkey (his words when I told him who I picked, not mine!), but because she helped change the way we strive to conserve other species and our planet.
What is your greatest regret?
I don’t have any regrets. I have learned from, and continue to learn from, each misstep and mistake.
